Sept 26, Leaving on a Jet Plane

Hello Friends! A quick post today on my OOTD and a message that I won’t be posting for a few days as I am heading out of town to go visit my son at college for parents weekend! Woot hoot!

I’ve chosen to wear a grey maxi dress on the plane today. As many of you know, whenever I fly I always bring a scarf. It not only keeps me warm, but also comes in handy on my trip as a quick swim suit cover up or as a shawl. One note, when choosing a scarf, I always like a big bulky one- it looks so much better than a thin or skinny one.

Gotta run… I’ll be back next week! 🙂

May 1, Another Airplane Outfit

As I mentioned yesterday, I’m off on another trip today, this time I’m heading to Vegas for the National Charity League national conference. For my plane journey, I’m wearing black jeans (as I did on my last trip), but this time I am pairing them with a cute v neck grey t shirt and my denim jacket. In the before photo I am wearing black joggers and a dark denim jacket. As much as I love those joggers- I will wear black jeans instead, since I want to pack light and can wear the jeans multiple times. I also plan on wearing the denim jacket a couple of times, and  I like the faded denim better than the dark wash. Rolling the sleeve of the denim jacket gives the outfit a casual vibe.

The grey shirt with the deeper v neck is more flattering than the white one on the left where the neckline is too high.

I’m also wearing slip on loafers- easy for going through security! Lastly, I will most definitely add a scarf- see photo below. The last trip I went on, I used my scarf almost every single day. It was so much colder than I thought it would be. Hopefully Vegas will be a bit warmer, but it’s always a good idea to keep a scarf in your bag for over air conditioned restaurants or hotel conference rooms!  This faux Burberry scarf is a great piece! It looks classy and can be draped over my shoulders as a shawl, or wrapped around my neck as seen here- or if I’m really desperate, can be a swim suit coverup!

April 8, Spring Break

While many of you are heading somewhere warm and exotic for Spring Break, my daughter and I are going to the midwest to look at colleges for the week. Today’s outfit is my airplane look.

I chose all black because I’m packing light and will need these jeans a few more times on my trip. Plus, black will hide any dirt and honestly, what’s more chic than all black? It’s such an easy base to make simple changes to for an all new look.

Today I added a scarf because I am always cold on airplanes, and a scarf is a great accessory to add style and warmth! I love this scarf because of it’s gorgeous colors, it’s generous size (nothing worse than a wimpy scarf) and I love the cute fringe along the edges. My hubby bought this for me years ago at Lucky. He’s a good shopper, I probably would never have picked this out on my own- but I have worn it so many times over the years.

These cute slip on tennis shoes are perfect for the airport where you have to take off your shoes for security. And don’t worry about my feet getting cold, I am wearing my Smart Wool socks.

Feb 10th, Jet Setter

I have a very early flight to sunny  southern California today, so I’m showing what I am wearing on the plane.

To me, comfort is key- but I also don’t want to look like I’m in sweats or my pj’s (I’ve actually seen adults wearing pj’s on planes!)

Instead of sloppy sweats, I’ve chosen comfy leggings. To be honest, I resisted leggings for a long time- thinking I am way too old to be wearing them.

I remember when they were popular in the early 80’s (thank you Madonna). I figured that since I wore them the first time around I should probably resist the second.

So, that being said- I don’t wear them a ton- but when I do- boy are they comfy. For my top I’ve chosen this loose tunic. As with the skinny jeans, with leggings it is VERY important that your shirt hangs down way below your bum. It can’t just graze the butt- it needs to be full coverage. Trust me.

I’m showing my original look on the right- and then on the left I’m showing how by adding just a few pieces I turned this boring outfit into something more interesting. Plus, having layers on an airplane is essential.

Don’t forget to click the ‘vote for us’ button on the right! Just 1 simple click each day keeps me in the running. Thanks! 🙂

I use my largest purse as my carryon- it fits my laptop, magazines and everything else!

I’ve hooked up with Girlmama for Fashion Friday. Check it out!
