August 1, Ruffle Detail

Sometimes it’s the littlest details that make an outfit. Something as simple as a interesting hemline, a cool neckline, a different sleeve, or even a ruffle is all you need to make your outfit interesting and unique.

For example, I went to dinner with a dear friend last night and I wanted to wear white jeans and a blue blouse. You know blue and white are one of my favorite color combos. I could have chosen my chambray shirt- which I love by the way (just not the way it’s styled here!), but instead I decided to go with this cute blouse with the ruffle detail.

There is a lot of things I love about this blouse. First off, it’s is a lot lighter weight than the chambray shirt, making it more appropriate for summer. Secondly, it has a cute hemline- where it’s short in front and then dips down in the back to cover my bootie. I also love the subtle stripes which is more fun than a solid print. And finally, as mentioned before, it has this unique ruffle that is built into the dropped shoulder and stretches down the sleeves. All of these small details make this blouse special.

To complete the look, I replaced the full length white jeans with my cropped ones, just that little peek of ankle makes all the difference in the world. I then swapped out the Birkenstocks for my cute white slides from Target. These shoes are one of my favorite purchases this summer, and they were only $13! I love them so much I bought them in both black and white!

June 10, Blue and White

As you know, blue and white are one of my favorite color combos! It’s just so classic, so crisp and so easy! Today I chose my cropped white jeans and a simple blue button down blouse from Loft.

I love this blouse because it is rayon, which means it hangs really well. I hate things that cling to my tummy (my problem area), so a blouse like this is perfect because it looks nice- and is slimming at the same time! Looking at the photos, I like it better with the cropped jeans and the cuter sandals, and I suggest tucking it in and adding a fun leopard belt to really elevate the look.

It looks black in the photos, but it is actually a deep navy blue.

May 12, Happy Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you amazing moms out there! I hope your family is spoiling you today. Mine sure is! We started the day with breakfast in bed- and later this afternoon we are going on a boat ride around Elliot Bay.

For my boating adventure I have chosen my cropped white jeans and my blue and white gingham J Crew blouse. On the left it’s a little to buttoned up and boring, so I changed things up a bit by swapping out my black Birkenstocks for my cute leopard flats. I also unbuttoned the blouse to show my tank underneath, did the half tuck and added a bright sweatshirt draped over my shoulders. If it’s cold on the boat, I can throw it on over my blouse- see below. you’ll notice I untucked the blouse to let the tails hang out underneath the sweatshirt. Enjoy your day!

April 17, Ruffle Sleeves

After yesterday’s long post where I shared my deep personal thoughts, today I am keeping it short and sweet. I’m wearing white jeans and this cute ruffle sleeve blouse.

I could have just paired my white jeans with a simple blue t shirt and neutral flats, which is perfectly fine, but wouldn’t you agree that the outfit on the right is a little more fun?

I love the details on the this blouse. It’s a very subtle blue and white stripe, plus the ruffle sleeve is a fun detail that makes this top stand out.

I kind of look pregnant in this shot- I swear I’m not! But I wanted you to see how the back dips down, covering my butt!

Look how cute the ruffle on the sleeve is!

Feb 19, Blue and White Again!

Feb 19, Blue and White Again!

I hope you’re not sick of blue and white! I know I’m not! It’s one of my favorite outfit combos (obviously!). And since I’m on vacation, it’s an easy way to pack just a few items and have lots of options.

In today’s look, at first I paired my cute blue and white Vince sweater with dark skinny jeans, but something just seemed off. So, instead I tried my white jeans- added the half tuck, a belt and some cuter shoes- and now I have a more stylish look.

Feb 18, Striped Dress

Feb 18, Striped Dress

I used to love this striped maxi dress (on the left), I used to wear it with a t shirt over the top- and thought I looked cute, until I saw this picture of myself wearing it. Yikes! First of all, it’s way too long, and the horizontal stripes on my curvy body just aren’t flattering!

The mixed up stripes on the blue and white maxi are more flattering than the stripes on the grey and white dress. It also has a looser cut, which doesn’t hug my hips as much. The denim jacket adds a nice casual touch. Roll up the sleeves & add some cute bracelets to add a little style. Swap out the Birkenstocks for cute wedges and I’m good to go!
