Oh my gosh, this is getting ridiculous- we are on our 3rd snow day here in the Pacific Northwest- and it could get worse, they are predicting epic amounts of snowfall today!
As I mentioned yesterday, it would be easy to lounge around in sweats all day- and that does actually sound quite heavenly- a cup of tea, a fire and a good book… my dream day!
However, I will shower and get dressed. I’m sure my neighbors will be stopping by at some point (we tend to gather and do group meals on these snow days), so I want to look presentable.
I’ve chosen jeans and a turtleneck today. As you can see on the right, this isn’t the cutest outfit. To spice it up a bit, I switched my jeans for a cuter style (Diva style from Old Navy), rolled the cuffs a bit, and added cuter shoes. Then, on top- I added my faux fur- what better way to keep warm when the temperature is freezing? A cute necklace ties the whole look together.
For you local gals- stay safe, stay warm and PLEASE stay off the streets!
This is one of those Saturdays where it’s all about sports!
My son has 2 basketball games AND lacrosse practice, so my outfit needs to be warm, comfy and casual.
I’ve opted for my ‘boyfriend’ jeans and a striped pink t shirt layered over a white shirt. Then to follow my rule of 3- I’ve added a vest. And, dare I say it- my UGGS!
Yikes! I’ll admit they are super ugly- but they are also super comfy, and warm, and good for when I’m going to be on my feet all day.
It’s not super stylish, but it’s at least an improvement over the outfit on the right.
The only reason I even own a long sleeved collared shirt is because I used to play golf.
However, in ‘Everyday Life’, a collared shirt is usually worn by those who wear it as a work uniform. So, unless you have a job that requires you to wear a collared shirt, or you are playing golf- take my advice and try a plain t shirt instead.
I can just hear you now, ‘Hey, didn’t you wear those jeans yesterday?’,
‘Why- yes, I did! Thanks for noticing!’ When you only have 30 items to chose from and only 5 of them are pants (or jeans) I’m a bit limited…
I really like this outfit today- it’s super warm, super comfy and oh so me!
On the right I am showing how it just doesn’t quite look right. The mom jeans are a bit dorky, the white crew neck shirt is dated, the long sleeves peeking out under the 3/4 sleeves… the whole thing is just off.
On the left I’ve switched to my more modern cute jeans, replaced the white shirt for my striped shirt, added this great colored scarf and then switched the shoes for boots. I’m trying something that I’ve been seeing a lot of lately- the high socks peaking out above the boots. I like this trend, not only do the socks keep my jeans tucked into the boots, but they also keep my toes toasty!
Off to my son’s basketball game. Wish him luck! He needs it! They got slaughtered last night 71-40. Ouch!
After a lovely week in Hawaii, I’m now happy to be home. Maybe ’cause I’m a Kansas girl, but to me, there’s no place like home!
Today’s outfit is a weekend, casual look. I’ve paired a denim shirt with a classic cable knit sweater and my boyfriend jeans. I then added my wedge boots to give the outfit an unexpected kick.
On the right you can see how this over-size sweater is not quite working for me. Similar to what I showed a few weeks ago- dressing in large clothes is not flattering, no matter what size you are- it will make you look enormous. Instead, opt for something more fitted- something that works with your figure- not against it!
The sweater on the left is a great example of why to always buy quality when it comes to a classic piece like this. This sweater was purchased by my grandfather in approx 1955 in Ireland. It was given to my mother- who then passed it down to me. It’s been sitting on the top shelf of my closet for years- and then I finally pulled it down, tried it on and wow!
I am so excited- it’s a beautiful piece that maybe I’ll pass down to my daughter one day… you think?
