No time for a before and after post this morning, I am running late and need to get out the door- but I wanted to quickly show my outfit that was inspired by @CBStyled over on Instagram. She did a cute post yesterday showing how to wear joggers 13 different ways- and they were all adorable! As you know, I love my joggers- they are seriously the most comfortable pant on earth, so I was excited to see her post and find some cute ideas. Below is my quick take on building an outfit around my grey joggers from Target. I added a cropped knit sweater (Vince) and then threw on a scarf to tie the colors together. For my feet I am wearing wedge heel booties from J Crew that I have had for years. Gotta run, sorry for the quickie!
I want to be cute and comfy today (I think I say that every day!). So I decided to go with my cream stretchy cords. They are so soft and so warm, perfect for a cold winter day. I love pairing black and cream together- it’s an easy, classic combination.
My first look on the right I have on a large, baggy black top. It’s not doing much for me- too loose, too boring.
On the left I have replaced it with this slimmer, long sleeve V neck black t shirt- and then to add warmth (and some style) I added my faux fur vest. To finish it off, I added a long pendant necklace that ties all the colors together. For my shoes I chose my desert booties. I can wear socks with these- so my feet are nice and toasty and the subtle color doesn’t distract from the rest of the outfit.
Now, being that it is Three for Thursday, I’ve decided to show you some other ways I’ve worn this faux fur vest. It’s a fun piece to have in your closet- a great little way to dress up an otherwise plain or boring outfit. Plus, it makes me so warm!
Trouble is, my maxi seemed too summery for me to wear in October…
Unless I layer a tank underneath, add a cute cropped trench coat, and finish the look off with my wedge booties. The matching necklace is just icing on the cake!
Now I look totally appropriate for a beautiful fall day!
Note- I accidentally shrunk my maxi in the dryer (gasp), so this is a little too short. Technically, it should go all the way to the floor. Also, I think my white tank goes up too high- I will be changing it for a lower profile one!

My sisters arrived yesterday after a very turbulent flight- so we had a few glasses of wine to calm our nerves…
Hence, we’re off to a late start today! LOL!
Here’s pic from last night- wearing our jammies and sipping our wine. We look pretty comfy, right?
Today we are going to hit the town and decided to dress in the theme of chambray. Each of us is wearing a different version of the same idea- a chambray shirt being the focus.
My older sister, Erin, has paired hers with red skinny jeans. She is a great example of how a large breasted, bigger tummy gal can wear skinny jeans (size 30). Paired with this tunic style shirt and pretty necklace, her legs look skinny and her boobs and tummy are hidden- she looks amazing.
I’m in the middle with a chambray shirt under a blue cable knit sweater. I’ve paired them with my cream cords and my Khol’s booties, and then I borrowed this cool bracelet from my sis.
Last is my little sis, Kara, who has on skinny jeans, a chambray shirt in a different wash and a grandpa sweater. She was worried she looked boring, but I don’t think so. I think she looks classic. Notice the all the details in her look- she has on an amazing belt, beautiful necklace and a gorgeous bracelet.
Not to mention her amazing shoes. These are the J Crew version of mine- (mine were around $40, hers were over $200) so definitely a splurge, but they are so stinking cute- and honestly they are much more comfortable than mine.
Come back tomorrow to see what we put together using only items from their suitcase… should be a fun!

Below I’m showing my cute 12 year old niece, Ellie wearing her denim!
She’s paired this eyelet dress with a denim jacket and some funky shoes. How cute is that?
The funny thing about this outfit is that I was actually planning on wearing this skirt on the right. But upon trying it on (especially paired with this belted cardigan), I realized that this look is NOT FLATTERING, and in fact very matronly and dated.
Oh that can’t be! I love this skirt and still remember when I bought it at Nordstoms.
When in doubt, take a picture of yourself in a questionable item- the camera doesn’t lie!
So, that being said, I decided to go back to my ever favorite, ever comfy skinnies.
This outfit works better because of the balance of the loose, flowy cardigan on top and skinny jeans on bottom. With the skirt- there is too much volume on both my top and on bottom- hence the matronly, frumpy look.
Per a suggestion from yesterday’s shoe dilemma, I’m wearing my new favorite shoes- the desert bootie. I think these might just be the shoe for me. I like the wedge heel (so much more comfy than a regular high heel), the color is neutral so it goes with anything) and it’s a great alternative to knee high boots.
What is your ‘go to’ shoe of the season?

Jeans: Madewell, Sweater: Nordstrom, Tank: Express, Shoes: Khol’s
Let me explain.
My son is really into skinny jeans- and Old Navy was having a denim sale ($10 for kids jeans), so while we were in there, I spotted this sweater.
I decided I might as well try it on, and sure enough, I LOVE it!
That being said, I have paired it with more expensive items- like these cute cargos and this checkered shirt- so I’m not completely going against what I said the other day. Just a tiny bit…
Pants: Louis Permilia, Shirt: Land’s End, Boots: Khol’s, Sweater: Old Navy
I haven’t worn this skirt a single time in this challenge, so I was feeling sorry for it! (does anyone else do that?)
While I was tempted to pair it with my black turtleneck- as I did here– I figured we have all seen enough of the black turtleneck.
Instead, I decided to mix patterns by wearing a blue and white striped shirt with this Ikat skirt. Mixing patterns is all the rage! (but is it me?!)
To keep to my rule of three (3 items of interest in the top half of my outfit), I then decided to throw on my denim jacket and this cool necklace my hubby got me for Christmas.
Now for the bottom half- since it is winter- and my legs were frozen- I knew I needed tights. I figured black was too dark (and since I’m wearing blue didn’t want to mix the two), and cream was too light. Hence, the grey tights.
Then I was stuck on shoes. What on earth to wear? I decided my desert booties might be a fun twist…
Luckily I’m going to the movies today- so even if this is a total bust, in the dark no one will see me!
