It’s finally the weekend, and I have a lot to do around the house today, so I want to be comfy and casual. I’ve chosen leggings and a top, but in my before look my plain black leggings and black top aren’t very interesting. There’s nothing really wrong with the look, it’s just a little boring. To add interest and color, instead I will wear these patterned leggings from North Face.
I’ve then replaced the fleece with this great long sleeved work out top I found at Marshalls. It has detail at the neckline (see below). I like the length of this top because it covers my butt, which is important when wearing leggings!
To add warmth and color I threw on this vest I just bought at Loft outlet. I love the color (I seem to be into purple these days!), and I like that it’s not bulky at all, so it doesn’t make me look top heavy. To complete the outfit, I’m wearing my black Adidas. I swear, these are one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. I got them at Nordstrom Rack, and I wear them all the time! I just think they better than my old tennis shoes, and they are so comfy!
They are so incredibly warm and soft. Some days as soon as I get home from work I put these on- they are just so comfy. The pattern is subtle, but a little more fun than just plain black. Today I’ve paired them with this cute asymmetrical waffle top from Costco! Seriously! Costco! I never shop for clothes at Costco but a friend of mine had this top and I thought it was so cute! I love the fun hemline- and while I don’t hate my before look- I do like the way this asymmetrical top covers me up a bit more!
I’ve been asked a few times to do a post on outerwear- and now that it has turned really cold in Seattle, I figured it’s time!
The important thing about outerwear for me is that since I live in a cold, wet climate- I need a coat that will not only keep me warm, but also keep me dry. This Greta coat from North Face is my favorite!
Look for a coat that fits well- and doesn’t look enormous on you! One with a belt is a great idea- because it emphasizes your waist- reducing bulk. I also like having my butt covered- so the length is important! And lastly, a hood is a must!
It’s cute to pair your coat with something sleek and skinny underneath- and a cute pair of boots always finishes off your look!
I scoured Pinterest and found some really cute examples of coats- see below!
That being said- if you live in a climate that is just really cold- a cute wool peacoat would be adorable!
My mother in law is visiting this week so we are heading into the city today. I decided
to wear jeans, flats and a jacket for warmth and comfort. I tried two different looks- on the right I’m wearing straight leg jeans and my North Face jacket. Being a Seattle gal, I love my North Face as much as anyone- but it’s just not that fashionable! On the left I swapped out my regular jeans for a pair of dark skinnys and replaced my North Face with a cute cropped trench. I added a long necklace and another arm party (I’m liking this trend more than I thought!). It’s a much cuter look while accomplishing the same goal- comfort and warmth! I love it!
